Having experienced my own share of life challenges and previously faced mental health issues, I decided to embark on a significant career change. I stepped away from my successful work in the high-profile music industry and broadcasting corporations, dedicating many years to training in counselling services to help others who feel stuck or isolated due to life pressures or mental health challenges. For over 24 years, I have felt privileged to work closely with many individuals struggling with their mental health, ranging from ages 8 to 87, within the NHS, public, private, and voluntary sectors, offering therapeutic work both in-person and online.
I am a fully qualified and registered counsellor & psychotherapist providing in-person sessions and online counselling in Truro, across Cornwall, Devon, The UK, and Europe. My specialisms include trauma recovery, bereavement counselling, anxiety & panic disorders, and enhancing confidence and self-esteem. I am passionate about helping others navigate their emotional and psychological issues and support individuals or couples adjusting to major life transitions, cancer journeys, or chronic illnesses.
With extensive experience in psychopathology and a variety of mental health issues of differing severities, I have learned to appreciate the uniqueness of each individual's journey with mental health challenges. I have worked with clients facing self-esteem and confidence issues, anxiety and panic disorders, depression, self-harm, addictions, phobias, OCD, and provided support for attachment and adjustment issues, loss, or bereavement. My experience extends to deeper issues such as trauma, Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), psychosis, personality disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, schizophrenia, and suicidal ideation. I do not shy away from working with those in distress due to mental health crises or intent, drawing from my close personal and professional experience.
I am dedicated to supporting individuals affected by cancer, chronic illnesses, and caregivers, having my own insight into the emotional toll these experiences can create. Additionally, I provide mental health support for individuals with learning difficulties and ASD, working alongside family members, caregivers, and health professionals.
I specialize in helping those affected by trauma, mental health issues, grief, or bereavement. My holistic approach incorporates a range of relational and psychodynamic models and techniques, enabling individuals to achieve a greater sense of well-being, reconnect with lost parts of themselves, and enhance coping strategies. I can be by your side to help you find ways forward if you give psychotherapy in Truro a chance. I am here to support you if you will let me.
