Having experienced my own share of life challenges and previously faced mental health issues, I decided to embark on a significant career change. I stepped away from my successful work in the high-profile music industry and broadcasting corporations, dedicating many years to training in counselling services to assist others who feel stuck or isolated due to life pressures or mental health challenges. For over 24 years, I have felt privileged to work closely with many individuals struggling with their mental health, including those dealing with anxiety, depression, and bereavement, ranging from ages 8 to 87, within the NHS, public, private, and voluntary sectors, offering therapeutic work both in-person and online.
I am a fully qualified and registered counsellor & psychotherapist providing in-person sessions and online counselling in and around Truro, across Cornwall, Devon, throughout The UK, and internationally. My specialisms include trauma recovery, loss and bereavement counselling, anxiety and panic disorders, and enhancing confidence or self-esteem. I am passionate about helping others navigate their emotional and psychological issues and support individuals or couples adjusting to major life transitions, mental health issues, or diagnoses. Additionally, I am dedicated to providing mental health support for individuals affected by cancer, chronic illnesses, disabilities, and caregivers, drawing from my own insight into the emotional toll these experiences can create. I also support individuals with learning difficulties and ASD, working alongside family members, those in caring roles, and health professionals.
With extensive experience in psychopathology, I have worked with clients facing a variety of mental health issues of differing severities. I appreciate the uniqueness of each individual's journey with mental health challenges, including issues related to self-esteem, anxiety, depression, self-harm, addictions, phobias, OCD, attachment and adjustment issues, loss, or bereavement. My experience extends to working with deeper issues such as trauma, Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), psychosis, personality disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, schizophrenia, and suicidal ideation or crisis. In my private practice or through NHS/CMHT referrals, I do not shy away from working with those in extreme distress due to mental health crises, drawing from my close personal and extensive professional experience to try to reduce distress and enhance well-being, guiding individuals toward empowerment in their decisions regarding end-of-life choices or stability in living.
My holistic approach first concentrates on you and your unique experience, then incorporates a range of relational and psychodynamic models and techniques, enabling individuals to achieve a greater sense of well-being, reconnect with lost parts of themselves, and enhance coping strategies.
